Guidance

Guidance and student services is the place where students go for help with career and course planning. The guidance department under the leadership of Mr. Levac works with students to schedule and manage courses and works especially closely with graduating students. Below, you can find important info from the guidance department.

This is the time of year when we at Student Services (Mr. D.  Levac—Head, Mrs. C.  Gusen—counselor, Mrs. P.  Lockman—administration and Mrs. B.  Beaudin—Youth Worker) are organizing the 2007/2008 school year!   The following events are now taking place:

For Students Entering grades 10 to 12:

Mr. Levac and Mrs. Gusen will address every student concerning academic choices for next year.  We ask students and their families to remember that students should have a clear pathway in mind (after high school do you plan to go directly to the workplace, or to college or to university?), and that this year’s academic performance will determine course selections for next year.  Your son/daughter will be bringing home 4 very important items from Student Services.  Those items are:

  1. A St. Francis Xavier Course Calendar for the 2007/2008 school year;
  2. The master timetable for grades 9 to 12 for the 2007/2008 school year;
  3. Your student’s individual credit summary, listing all the courses he/she has to-date and
  4. The Course Selection Sheet for the particular grade your student will be entering next year (these forms are large, and coloured).

Please spend some time with your  son/daughter, to help them make decisions for next year, and to fit their 8 course selections into the master timetable.

For Students Entering grades 7, 8 or 9:

Student Services is presently meeting with grade 8 teachers, to help determine the appropriate pathways for all students entering grade 9
